The Industrial Hemp Act of 2018 will allow farmers to become licensed to grow in 2019. Prior legislation, passed in 2014, allowed only four state universities to perform research. However, politics in the state delayed Administrative Rules from being enacted for two years after its passing. To date, there are two licensees in the state where Global Hemp was the first to legally plant hemp outdoors since World War II on May 22, 2018.
